HELP!!!!!!

So many students in our schools are in need of help. However, this help is not with understanding integers, prepasitions, the Cold War, or the cell. These students need help achieving their greatest potential. This does not mean that we must shape them into the model American. Instead of spending an entire semester or year trying to make a round peg into a square hole. These students are not going to fit into the mold you have in your mind. This is not what these students need. They need what every child needs, to know that someone cares. Think back to when you first decided to enter the teaching field, didn't you want to reach the unreachable. Well, its not impossible. Simply take time out of your busy schedule, stop teaching for a few minutes, and show the children in your class that you care and that their greatest potential is more than they can imagine and its possible. Stop using "stupid, idiot, slow, challenged, hateful, hopeless, evil, waste of time" as descriptions of students and start describing yourself as their only hope. Perhaps this new perspective will warm your heart and change lives.
Too many times teachers become too busy, too bothered, too angry, and too distant to make a real impact on the lives of their students. Too many students experience failure after failure, put down, after put down, from family and "friends". Shouldn't they hear encouragement and challenges from their teacher. Be that teacher. Be that warmth that enters the ice box we call teachers' lounges.

Love those kids, and offer hope, not dispair.
